BLACK BAY

TUDOR introduces the newest Black Bay, the latest technical and aesthetic evolution of the emblematic diving watch with a burgundy bezel. Representing the latest in Black Bay, this model features evolved design elements, a “T-fit” clasp and is Master Chronometer-certified by METAS.

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

The original Black Bay first launched in 2012 with a burgundy bezel and it was given the Manufacture Calibre treatment in 2016. Now it returns in a third evolution foreshadowing the aesthetic and technical future of the line. Named Black Bay, this emblematic design in the TUDOR collection is another example of TUDOR’s expert command of one of the industry’s most demanding standards in terms of chronometry and resistance to magnetic fields. Tested by the Federal Institute of Metrology or METAS, the Black Bay brings together cutting-edge watchmaking technology with design elements inspired by TUDOR’s nearly seven-decade heritage of making robust professional diving watches.

TUDOR QUALITY

With the introduction of Black Bay, TUDOR has successfully submitted yet another Black Bay model for tests to obtain a Master Chronometer certification, as part of a constant bid to improve the quality of its products. This is the third application of this standard to a watch in the TUDOR collection, and a step towards a future where the entire collection is METAS certified. This certification, which requires a substantial number of changes to a regular TUDOR Manufacture Calibre, means that TUDOR is able to extend substantially its offer of an accreditation by an independent body, confirming the exceptional quality of its watches.

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

COMPREHENSIVE INDEPENDENT CERTIFICATION AND HIGH STANDARDS

METAS Master Chronometer certification is comprehensive and covers the main functional characteristics of a watch including precision, resistance to magnetic fields, waterproofness and power reserve. Its standards are incredibly high, starting with precision. In order to qualify, a watch must be able to function within a 5-second range of variation each day (0 +5), that is to say 5 seconds less than the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) (-4 +6) carried out on a single movement and a second less than TUDOR’s internal standard, which is applied to the brand’s models with a Manufacture Calibre (-2 +4). The certification also guarantees the timekeeping accuracy of a watch subjected to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. Finally, it also guarantees that the waterproof capability claimed by the manufacturer conforms with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 22810:2010, as does the power reserve of each Master Chronometer watch. It should also be noted that two prerequisites are necessary before the certification can be obtained: Swiss manufacturing must conform with the criteria of Swiss Made, and the movement must be certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

CRITERIA AND TESTS FOR METAS CERTIFICATION

All the tests and prerequisites leading to the Master Chronometer certification, which the Black Bay has achieved, are summarised below:

  • Swiss Made
  • Certification by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC)
  • Precision at two temperatures, in six different positions and at two different levels of power reserve: 100% and 33%
  • Smooth functioning when exposed to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss and precision following exposure
  • Waterproof to 200m (660 ft) in accordance with ISO standard 22810:2010
  • 70-hour power reserve

THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5602-U

The Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U, which powers the Black Bay, displays hour, minute and seconds functions. It offers the general look and feel of TUDOR Manufacture Calibres with dedicated sun laser design and bears the Master Chronometer mention on its bridges, emphasising its distinctive performance. Its rotor is fashioned in tungsten monobloc and is openworked. It also features the distinctive laser radial grooving with sand-blasted details. Its bridges and mainplate have alternate sand-blasted and polished surfaces and laser decorations.

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

Its build is designed to ensure robustness and precision. To do this, the variable inertia balance wheel is maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with two-point anchoring. This system together with its non-magnetic silicon hairspring, means the Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U is able to function within a tolerance range of 5 seconds (0/+5) tested on a fully assembled watch.

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

Another notable feature is that the power reserve of the ManufactureCalibre MT5602-U Calibre is “weekend-proof”; that is to say, it has been certified for 70 hours by METAS, which enables the wearer to take the watch off on a Friday evening and put it back on again on Monday morning without having to wind it. Even if you need a weekend away, your watch does not.

EMBLEMATIC LOOK

The Black Bay with burgundy bezel remains one of TUDOR’s most recognized and recognizable models. In its latest iteration, named Black Bay, the case keeps the original proportions of a 41mm in diameter case with a thinner profile. The unidirectional rotatable bezel offers very prehensible sides and its insert shows subtly curved numerals aligning with the outline of the outer ring. However, the aesthetic details don’t stop at case dimensions and bezel. The seconds hand recalls the look of the early diving watches of the brand with a lollipop design while the satin black dial is subtly radial-brushed for a very subtle shine under direct light. Ergonomics have evolved as well, with a redesigned crown, reminiscent of the curves found on the crowns of the brand’s historical technical watches, that is set flush to the middle case band so that its tube is not visible.

STEEL BRACELETS OR RUBBER STRAP, ALL WITH “T-FIT”

The Black Bay comes fitted with either an entirely satin-brushed three-link steel bracelet or a five-oval-shaped-link brushed and polished steel bracelet, both complete with the TUDOR “T-fit” clasp equipped with a system for rapid length adjustment. Easy to use, requiring no tools and offering five positions, this practical system allows wearers to carry out a fine, instant adjustment of the total length of the bracelet along an adjustment window of 8mm. The clasp features ceramic ball bearings that ensure a smooth and secure closure in addition to adding a pleasing tactile element to the action of the clasp.

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

A black rubber strap option is also available for the Black Bay. The strap comes in three sizes complete with TUDOR “T-fit” clasp, and for the perfect fit, it is able to be cut down to the exact size of the wearer’s wrist. On the inside it features the signature snowflake motif for added grip, and it is form-fitted specifically for the Black Bay.

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

THE ESSENCE OF BLACK BAY

The Black Bay line features dials inspired by the TUDOR divers’ watches produced during the 1950s. It borrows the characteristic angular hands known to collectors as “Snowflake” from models that appeared in the brand’s 1969 catalogue. Its unprotected crown and the characteristics of its case are reminiscent of the first generations of TUDOR divers’ watches.

BLACK BAY - NEW WATCHES 2023

The Black Bay line is the result of the subtle blend of traditional aesthetics and contemporary watchmaking. Far from simply being an identical re-release of a classic, it brings together over sixty years of TUDOR dive watches, whilst at the same time being resolutely anchored in the present. It is neo-vintage in conception, yet its manufacturing techniques, reliability, robustness and the quality of its finish are consistent with today’s more rigorous requirements.

BLACK BAY 54

BLACK BAY 54

TUDOR presents a new addition to the Black Bay line that embodies the purest modern expression of the brand’s first-ever dive watch. In 1954, the reference 7922 was released, today the Black Bay 54 recalls this model with a 37mm case and a Manufacture Calibre.

Tudor Black Bay

While the Black Bay line references a range of TUDOR’s early dive watches, the all-new Black Bay 54 is the most true-to-form example of TUDOR’s first dive watch, the reference 7922. The 37mm case retains the classic proportions of yesteryear, yet boasts the technical prowess of TUDOR’s time-only Manufacture Calibre MT5400 and a 200m depth rating. True to form, the unidirectional bezel is devoid of any graduated hash marks, echoing the days of the early ‘50 when SCUBA diving was in its infancy and TUDOR produced a watch for those daring enough to engage with the burgeoning sport. The new aesthetic details, however, don’t stop at the case dimensions and bezel. The seconds hand recalls the look of the original with a lollipop design. Ergonomics have evolved as well, with a redesigned crown and bezel, both featuring historical proportions.

BLACK BAY 54

KEY POINTS

  1. Historical proportions of a 37mm case in stainless steel with a 60-minute unidirectional bezel in stainless steel devoid of hash marks.
  2. Subtly domed satin radial-brushed black dial with gilt accents
  3. “Snowflake” hands, a hallmark of TUDOR divers’ watches introduced in 1969, with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material
  4. Manufacture Calibre MT5400, COSC-certified with a silicon balance spring, 70-hour power reserve
  5. A choice of stainless steel three-link “rivet-style” bracelet or rubber strap, both with TUDOR “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp
  6. Five-year transferable guarantee, with no registration or periodic maintenance checks required
BLACK BAY 54

DIVING INTO THE PAST

The Black Bay line was conceived with the past in mind. Honouring the important designs that laid the foundation of TUDOR’s unique aesthetic is of the highest importance. While the Black Bay line has always incorporated signature elements of past TUDOR dive watches, the Black Bay 54 is perhaps the most true-to-form Black Bay to have been created thus far. The Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7922 is a formidable candidate to draw inspiration from, as it was known to have been evaluated and consequently adopted by the French and US Navies and widely used by diving professionals. The earliest iterations of the 7922 used a “small crown” and eschewed the later emblematic red triangle at 12 o’clock for a cleaner, more uniform aesthetic. The Black Bay 54 follows this tradition. In fact, the Black Bay 54 recalls a number of small design details that make a big difference. Take the hands for instance, in addition to proportional adjustments, they’re pinched at the base, the same way they appeared in 1954. The bezel edge has been redesigned as well, with a modernized take on the ergonomic pattern of the 7922. Of course, the Black Bay 54 still features thoroughly modern touches, like a subtle satin radial-brushed dial and a “T-fit” clasp for the perfect fit. And of course, the cutting-edge Manufacture Calibre MT5400.

BLACK BAY 54

THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5400

The Manufacture Calibre MT5400, with which the Black Bay 54 is equipped, displays hour, minute and second functions. It has the finish typical of TUDOR Manufacture Calibres: Its rotor in tungsten monobloc is openwork and satin-brushed with sand-blasted details, and its bridges and mainplate have alternate sand-blasted, polished surfaces and laser decorations.

BLACK BAY 54

Its build is designed to ensure robustness and precision. To do this, the variable inertia balance wheel is maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with a two-point anchoring. This system, together with its non-magnetic silicon hairspring, enables the Manufacture Calibre MT5400 to function within a tolerance range of 6 seconds (-2/+4) tested on a fully assembled watch.

BLACK BAY 54

Another notable feature is that the power reserve of the MT5400 Manufacture Calibre is “weekend-proof”; that is to say, it has a 70-hour power reserve, which enables the wearer to take the watch off on a Friday evening and put it back on again on Monday morning without having to wind it. Even if you need a weekend away, your watch does not.

BLACK BAY 54

STEEL BRACELET OR RUBBER STRAP

The Black Bay 54 is fitted with an entirely satin-brushed 3-link steel bracelet, complete with the TUDOR “T-fit” clasp equipped with a system for rapid length adjustment. Easy to use, requiring no tools and offering five positions, this practical system allows wearers to carry outa fine, instant adjustment of the total length of the bracelet along an adjustment window of 8mm. The clasp features ceramic ball bearings that ensure a smooth and secure closure in addition to adding a pleasing tactile element to the action of the clasp.

BLACK BAY 54

A black rubber strap option is also available for the Black Bay 54. The strap comes in three sizes complete with the TUDOR “T-fit” clasp, and for the perfect fit, it is able to be cut down to the exact size of the wearer’s wrist. Inside it features the signature snowflake motif for added grip, and it is form-fitted specifically for the Black Bay 54.

BLACK BAY 31/36/39/41

TUDOR presents a new version of its Black Bay line in steel with a fixed bezel. All fitted with Manufacture Calibres, the models come in four sizes, with a five-link bracelet and clasp with rapid adjustment.

The Black Bay 31/36/39/41 models bring a unique aesthetic to the Black Bay line. The curved cases feature a combination of finishes that elevates the watch in a contemporary fashion and offers a design language that slightly departs from the brand’s iconic tool watch spirit to embrace a sophisticated, versatile, unisex chic look and feel. Fitted with Manufacture Calibres these models are at the cutting edge of technical watchmaking refinement. Another important feature for optimum comfort is the five-link bracelet which comes with the TUDOR “T-fit” clasp, with rapid adjustment, in all sizes. New for this year is an array of sunray dials that further push the watch in a stylish direction. Depending on whether the dial is blue, anthracite, or light champagne-coloured, the minute track is rendered in a contrasting colour that evokes a certain warmth to the design.

The case of the Black Bay 31/36/39/41 models presents a sophisticated, curved vision of the famous Black Bay aesthetic. With its polished and domed sides in all available sizes, its soft silhouette is accentuated by a new curved winding crown. In addition to the seductive curves, the polished bezel and crown is carried over from the S&G models debuted last year.

TUDOR MANUFACTURE CALIBRES
TUDOR offers three families of self-winding movement, all used in the various sizes of the Black Bay 31/36/39/41 models - large (MT56), medium (MT54) and small (MT52).
TUDOR Manufacture Calibres have been designed to ensure robustness, longevity, reliability and precision, as has the variable inertia balance, which is maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with a two-point fixation. Together with their non-magnetic silicon balance spring, they are certified as a chronometer by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), with its performance going beyond the standards set by this independent institute.

BLACK BAY GMT

BLACK BAY GMT

TUDOR is expanding the Black Bay GMT line with a new, whimsical dial in opaline to match the distinctive burgundy and blue bezel. It’s also equipped with a steadfast Manufacture Calibre.

BLACK BAY GMT

The TUDOR Black Bay GMT is made of the right stuff. First off, it sports an incredibly useful multiple time-zone complication – also known as a GMT function – that establishes local time without losing sight of the time in two other time zones. Recognisable by its rotatable bezel, which borrows its deep blue and burgundy colour scheme from other models in the Black Bay line, but in a matte version, the Black Bay GMT is also a nod to the early days of this high-flying aesthetic.

BLACK BAY GMT

Now TUDOR has added the option of an all-new opaline dial that perfectly complements the iconic colour scheme of the Black Bay GMT. Opaline isn’t quite white, instead there’s a slight silvery hint to the dial. Through a galvanic process, a matte white-grey finish is applied to the dial, and the marker surrounds are darkened to create a noticeable contrast. Beyond being reminiscent of the mid-century boom in commercial aviation, the charming opaline dial is highly legible.

BLACK BAY GMT

KEY POINTS

  1. Satin-brushed case in 316L stainless steel, 41mm in diameter, with a bidirectional rotating bezel featuring an anodised aluminium insert in burgundy and deep blue, as a hallmark of the GMT function
  2. Domed “opaline” dial with a galvanic finish
  3. “Snowflake” hands, a hallmark of TUDOR divers’ watches introduced in 1969, with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material
  4. Manufacture Calibre MT5652, COSC-certified with a silicon balance spring, 70-hour power reserve
  5. A choice of 316L stainless steel three-link “rivet-style” bracelet or fabric strap
  6. Five-year transferable guarantee, with no registration or periodic maintenance checks required
BLACK BAY GMT

HIGH-FLYING FUNCTIONALITY

Additional time zones are indicated by a red “Snowflake” GMT hand, TUDOR’s aesthetic hallmark, which rotates around the dial in 24 hours, as well as a bidirectional rotatable bezel that is also calibrated for 24 hours. The twelve daylight hours are printed on the burgundy section and the night-time hours on the blue.

BLACK BAY GMT

With a steel case, 41mm in diameter, the Black Bay GMT model is waterproof to 200 metres (660 ft) and designed to withstand the elements. Its winding crown tube is in satin-brushed steel, new for the Black Bay line and aesthetically in keeping with the case and winding crown. Its contrasting opaline dial means that it is legible in all conditions, including night-time, thanks to its luminescent hour markers.

BLACK BAY GMT

THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5652

The Manufacture Calibre MT5652 with integrated GMT function, jumping hour hand and retrograde date setting was developed by TUDOR for the Black Bay GMT models. An apt demonstration of TUDOR’s approach to technical development, the integration of new functions is allowed by a flexible architecture, rather than by stacking additional modules. A defining detail and a must for purist watch enthusiasts.

BLACK BAY GMT

The Calibre MT5652 has the appearance and finish typical of TUDOR Manufacture calibres. Its openwork rotor is satin-brushed with sand-blasted details and its bridges and mainplate have alternate polished sand-blasted surfaces and laser decorations.

BLACK BAY GMT

Its build is designed to ensure robustness and precision. To do this, the variable inertia balance wheel is maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with a two-point anchoring. This system, together with its non-magnetic silicon hairspring, enables the Manufacture Calibre MT5652 to function within a tolerance range of 6 seconds (-2/+4) tested on a fully assembled watch.

BLACK BAY GMT

Another notable feature is that the power reserve of the MT5652 Manufacture Calibre is “weekend-proof”; that is to say, it has a power reserve of 70 hours, which enables the wearer to take the watch off on a Friday evening and put it back on again on Monday morning without having to wind it. Even if you need a weekend away, your watch does not.

BLACK BAY GMT

BRACELET OR JACQUARD-WOVEN

The fabric strap is one of the hallmarks of TUDOR, which, in 2010, became one of the first watchmaking brands to offer it with its products. Woven in France using a traditional method on 19th century Jacquard looms by the Julien Faure company in the St-Etienne region, its manufacturing quality and comfort on the wrist are unique. In 2020, TUDOR celebrated ten years of collaboration with the hundred-and-fifty-year-old Julien Faure company. The partnership began with the launch of Heritage Chrono, the first model fitted with a fabric strap created by the craftsmen, at Baselworld 2010.

BLACK BAY GMT

For the Black Bay GMT, TUDOR has selected a black strap with a woven burgundy accent matching the bezel. The model is also available fitted with a stainless-steel bracelet inspired by the folding riveted bracelets made by TUDOR in the 1950s and 1960s. These were famous for having visible rivet heads on the side of the bracelet that held the links together. The links also had a distinct stepped construction. These two aesthetic details are found on the current bracelet, which also integrates modern manufacturing methods with solid links and laser-finished rivet-style heads.

TUDOR ROYAL

TUDOR ROYAL

With its integrated metal bracelet, notched or diamond-set bezel and automatic movement, the TUDOR Royal range is the epitome of versatile and affordable sport-chic, and now there are two more exciting dial variants joining the range: Chocolate Brown and Salmon.

TUDOR ROYAL

TUDOR has expanded the dial range of the much-loved Royal to include radial-brushed salmon and chocolate brown dials that offer an unexpected and exquisite aesthetic. The Royal range offers self-winding, sporty and chic watches with integrated bracelets that are as affordable as they are aesthetically sophisticated. Boasting first-class technical performance and a refined aesthetic, this line sits at the crossroads between classic and sports watches. Royal was a name first used by TUDOR in the 1950s to emphasize the superior quality of its watches, which stands until today. It comes in stainless steel or gold and steel and is offered in four sizes with a total of thirteen possible dials for every personality.

TUDOR ROYAL

TUDOR ROYAL

TUDOR ROYAL IS #BORNTODARE

Since its founding in 1926, TUDOR has endeavoured to produce the best possible watches at the best possible price. This mission, bold then as it is now, is inspired by the vision of the brand’s founder Hans Wilsdorf. The inventor of several cornerstones of modern fine watchmaking – wristwatch precision, waterproofness and the self-winding mechanism – Wilsdorf dreamed of devising a watch that was technically perfect while remaining affordable, and so created the TUDOR brand to bring his dream alive. The TUDOR Royal range forms part of this uncompromising heritage, promising its future owner no less than the best possible quality at the best possible price. Made in Switzerland from a block of one of the most robust stainless steels in existence, 316L steel, the case of the TUDOR Royal models is waterproof in all circumstances and to 100 metres (330 feet) below sea level thanks to its screw-down crown and caseback. The movement – the pinnacle of Swiss watchmaking expertise – is finely decorated despite not being visible and is adjusted to the highest chronometry standards in the watchmaking industry. Finally, the smooth and seamless five-link metal bracelet stands out thanks to the quality of its design, manufacturing and finish. All these things and more come together to produce the famous TUDOR quality, a philosophy summarised by the brand’s signature, #BornToDare – always striving to do better.

TUDOR ROYAL

SPORT-CHIC WATCH WITH INTEGRATED BRACELET

The TUDOR Royal range is the ultimate in balance, elegance and versatility. The characteristic notched bezel, with its alternating surface polish and cut grooves, is just one design detail that gives the Royal its unique personality. With its integrated metal bracelet ensuring an uninterrupted line with the case, TUDOR Royal embodies fluidity and unmistakable style. Characterised by its three wide satin-brushed links set between two slimmer polished elements, the smooth quality of its surfaces and edges emphasises the importance that TUDOR places on ensuring its comfort on the wrist. Available in stainless steel or with alternating links in stainless steel and yellow gold, the meticulous finishes of the models in this range cater to every taste. Available in four sizes, the TUDOR Royal is designed to fit any wrist. The 41mm version is particularly distinctive as its mechanical movement displays the day at the same time as the date. The 28mm version also features a mother-of-pearl dial with a diamond-set bezel.

TUDOR ROYAL

SPORT-CHIC WATCH WITH REFINED DIALS

The TUDOR Royal range has adopted the sunray motif for its dials. Available in black, silver, champagne-colour, blue, chocolate brown or salmon, the sunray motif radiates from the centre of the dial, creating elegant lighting effects and reflections that accentuate the chic character of the Royal. The range is completed by a diamond-set mother-of-pearl version for the smallest diameter. For a final touch of chic, TUDOR has added applied Roman numeral hour markers to its TUDOR Royal watches. All dials offer these applied numerals or a combination of applied numerals and eight diamond-set hour markers.

THE TUDOR MANUFACTURE
Every TUDOR watch, including the Black Bay, is assembled and fully tested to TUDOR’s superior standards at the new TUDOR Manufacture located in the Le Locle, Switzerland. This new state-of-the-art facility, bringing together the know-how of watchmakers with the best in production management and automated testing systems, was completed in 2021 after three years of construction. All decked out in TUDOR red, the Manufacture spans over four levels totalling 5,500 square meters and is physically and visually connected to the neighbouring Kenissi Manufacture, the TUDOR movement production facility founded in 2016. With Kenissi and a network of TUDOR-owned affiliates, the brand has been able to integrate the development and production of high-performance mechanical calibres. As a consequence, TUDOR now fully masters the manufacturing of strategic components and can guarantee their quality.

On the strength of this experience, and confident in the superior quality of its watches, TUDOR offers a five-year guarantee for all its products. This guarantee does not require the watch to be registered or submitted to periodic checks and is transferable. TUDOR also recommends that its watches should be serviced approximately every ten years depending on the model and the extent of its use on a day-to-day basis.

TUDOR IS #BORNTODARE
In 2017, TUDOR launched a new campaign with the #BornToDare signature. It reflects both the history of the brand and what it stands for today. It tells the adventures of individuals who have achieved the extraordinary on land, on ice, in the air or underwater, with a TUDOR watch on their wrists. It also refers to the vision of Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of TUDOR, who manufactured TUDOR watches to withstand the most extreme conditions, watches made for the most daring lifestyles. It is testimony to TUDORs singular approach to watchmaking, which has made it what it is today. At the cutting edge of the watchmaking industry, its innovations are now essential benchmarks. The TUDOR #BornToDare spirit is supported throughout the world by first class ambassadors, whose life achievements result directly from a daring approach to life.
