As the long-term partner of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), Longines is proud to be the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the 37th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2019 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where its Ambassadors of Elegance, Dina and Arina Averina, delivered incredible performances. As the reigning champions, the Russian twin sisters nearly pulled off a complete sweep at Baku’s Gymnastics Arena with seven medals, including 4 gold. In the context of the event, the Swiss watch brand was also delighted to present its Longines Prize for Elegance to USA’s Laura Zeng, in celebration of her outstanding elegance and charisma. This international event was the occasion for the brand to highlight a ladies model from The Longines Master Collection Blue Edition.
As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the 37th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2019 in Baku, Longines was proud to celebrate the outstanding performances of its Ambassadors of Elegance, the twin sisters Arina and Dina Averina. The latter took part in five events at the World Championships and won five medals, 4 gold, including the coveted individual All-around title. The former finished second in the Ball and Individual All-around finals. The Official Watch of the event is a ladies model from The Longines Master Collection Blue Edition, which displays a sunray blue dial with diamond indexes matching its blue alligator strap.
In addition, Longines was proud to present the Longines Prize for Elegance to USA’s Laura Zeng. She distinguished herself from all participants of the allaround finals for the grace, beauty, harmony, and above all elegance of her performance, a value cherished by Longines. The jury of the Longines Prize for Elegance comprised Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation, Benjamin Aeby, International Sponsorship & Events Manager, and Yana Batyrshina, former rhythmic gymnast and ambassador of the event. Set up in 1997, the Longines Prize for Elegance takes the form of a trophy representing a gymnast in movement created especially for Longines by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Gerber. In addition, the winner received an elegant Longines timepiece and a cheque.
Longines and gymnastics For over thirty years, the brand has been the Official Partner and Timekeeper for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions organized by the International Gymnastics Federation. At these events, Longines provides the necessary infrastructure and personnel for calculating times, presenting scores, processing data (start lists, results, and medals) and displaying it on the results screens, on the commentators’ information system as well as transmitting it to the television companies that are covering the competitions.
