Each Grand Seiko 9R Spring Drive Ref. SLGA025 is meticulously manufactured in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, in Central Japan. South of Shinshu Watch Studio, and along the eponymous Atera Valley, runs Atera River which stream takes beautiful turquoise shades, endowing our craftspeople with inspiration for this latest Spring Drive creation.
A lightweight Evolution 9 model
Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection, or E9, is expanding with this new timepiece, joining as a regular model. Its 40mm wide case is forged from the Brand’s proprietary High-Intensity Titanium, which comes with a brighter finish than most other grades of titanium used in watchmaking industry while ensuring light weight and greater corrosion resistance.
The turquoise waters of Atera Valley
Flowing South of Shinshu Watch Studio, Atera Valley is a designated National Recreational Forest, popular for its pristine nature and the clear blue stream of Atera River. These stunning shades, a singular beauty referred to as “Atera blue”, have inspired our dial crafters for this new creation.
Not only does this new and unique dial bear a gradation of hues reminiscent of the very ones of the river, but our craftspeople have also thoroughly achieved to give it a mesmerizing depth and movement to it.
The latest generation of 9R Spring Drive, pride of Shinshu
Concealed behind the water-inspired dial runs Grand Seiko Spring Drive 5 Days 9RA2. The second generation of 9R Spring Drive movements, first unveiled in 2020, delivers a comfortable power reserve of 5 days while introducing temperature compensation, for an improved accuracy of ±0.5 second per day.
The caliber is decorated with a unique “Shinshu Frost” finish, itself a tribute to its homeland, drawing inspiration from the gentle frost that covers the trees in early winter and the starry sky visible from between their branches.
Grand Seiko SLGA025 will be available from September 2024 at Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide.
