Geneva reaffirmed its status as the world capital of watchmaking this Saturday, 7 November, bringing together the international community for the 26th GPHG Awards Ceremony. This edition took on a particularly significant cultural and institutional dimension with the presence of the Director-General of UNESCO, highlighting the place of watchmaking art within the cultural heritage of humanity. Hosted by Stéphane Bern and Arianne Alcorta, the ceremony celebrated the creativity, boldness and ingenuity of the artisans of time, reflecting the exceptional vitality of contemporary watchmaking.

Following a selection process involving an Academy of more than 1,000 members and a Jury of international experts chaired this year by Wei Koh, twenty prizes were attributed, recognising the excellence of an industry in constant pursuit of excellence. The highest distinction in watchmaking, the prestigious Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix was awarded to Rexhep Rexhepi for the Chronograph Flyback watch.

The Maisons Audemars Piguet, Blancpain, Chopard, Cleguer, Daniel Roth, Dominique Renaud, Ferdinand Berthoud, Grand Seiko, Konstantin Chaykin, La Vallée, Louis Vuitton, Otsuka Lotec, Parmigiani Fleurier, Piaget and SpaceOne also distinguished themselves with timepieces that push the boundaries of micromechanics, technical poetry and artistic crafts.

The Special Jury Prize was awarded to Patek Philippe for the Watch Art Grand Exhibition, recognizing an exceptional commitment to watchmaking culture.

Following Mumbai and Bangkok, the exhibition bringing together the 84 timepieces nominated by the Academy remains open at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva until 15 November. The award-winning timepieces will then travel to London, where they will be presented from 18 to 23 November at the Watches of Switzerland boutique in Knightsbridge.
