Holthinrichs Watches introduces AVENTURINE & METEORITE

This summer, Holthinrichs Watches released the first model and name carrier of this line: DECONSTRUCTED. DECONSTRUCTED transforms the structural essence of a timepiece in a spectacular light and spacious avant-garde design, using pioneering technology derived from aerospace engineering in its manufacturing. While the DECONSTRUCTED boasts an almost science fiction, alien-like exoskeleton structure made achievable through 3D printing in titanium, the brand expands its collection with two new additions. AVENTURINE and METEORITE feature dials crafted from some of the most exquisite and otherworldly precious materials. The closed and semi-closed variations ensure a more classical or sporty alternative, adding versatility to the lineup.

(DECONSTRUCTED) AVENTURINE

AVENTURINE presents a design that is clean and quiet. Its understated elegance is evident in the smaller details, from the ultra-thin 3D printed titanium case with its unprecedented minimal lug structures to its deep blue aventurine dial.

Aventurine, in turn, is arguably the most elegant mineral on Earth, owing to its unique, deep, and glittering effect reminiscent of a starry sky. Implemented in the AVENTURINE, it enhances the lightness and spaciousness of Holthinrichs’ design language in the most refined manner. Holthinrichs further emphasizes this by adding twelve slim and gently sloped baton-shaped indices (key elements in the Holthinrichs DECONSTRUCTED line) designed to guide the viewer’s gaze towards the center into a seemingly infinite space.

AVENTURINE is paired with a custom made patina alligator strap with curved ends that are optically detached from the case, again emphasizing the lightness of the timepiece. Combined with an overall weight of only 20 grams, the AVENTURINE becomes an exceptionally comfortable and elegant timepiece to wear.

(DECONSTRUCTED) METEORITE

METEORITE bursts in from outer space, not quite as elegant as its sibling, offering a whole new and dynamic take on the sport watch concept. Its precious meteorite dial and skeletonized case with selective raw details it proposes a clear link to the Holthinrichs brand’s design concept of “Horlogerie Brut”, showcasing the intrinsic beauty of textures directly derived from nature and the chosen manufacturing methods. The model expresses a sleek design with an openworked subseconds counter that offers a glimpse into the functioning and kinetic motion of the movement, and Holthinrichs attention to finishing. The dial is made out of a thin slice of Muonionalusta meteorite, the oldest known meteorite to have impacted the earth. The meteorite is not only the perfect way to complement the unprecedented aerospace-like case structures presented in the DECONSTRUCTED line, it also expresses the dynamic character of the sports watch in the most epic way.

METEORITE comes with an integrated PU bracelet expressly developed for this sporty timepiece. It is produced in collaboration with an innovative company in Switzerland using 3D printed casts and 3D printed inserts to enable low quantity and high-quality production in a wide range of bespoke colors and transparencies. Upon request, the straps are offered in a solid color, or semi-translucent, exposing the internal structures that make the bracelet strong and durable.

MOVEMENT & FINISHING

Holthinrichs is bound to take movement component manufacturing and finishing to the next level with their DECONSTRUCTED series. The caliber HW-M01 is 50% made in-house and based on an improved Peseux 7001 architecture. Research and development into the movement and manufacturing were already initiated in 2017 and resulted in a caliber which is simple in its functioning, but constructed for higher stiffness and improved timekeeping. Its bridges are made out of German silver. A material which is beautiful when left uncoated, but also offering a fine base for manual finishing and optional galvanic treatments. Regulating and delta deviations are improved by implementing an inertia balance wheel with white gold machelottes together with a timed balance spring and static porte-piton. The slender design and versatility of the HW-M01 movement allow for smart timepiece designs, while also serving as a canvas for Holthinrichs‘ love for manual finishing.

In the AVENTURINE and METEORITE, the movements are finished to reflect the fronts of the watches. The AVENTURINE features circular côtes de Genève, a clean finish that visually makes the different components orbit around the centre wheel as the centre of gravity, reminiscent of a planetary system. The METEORITE features a hand-applied scraping pattern, giving it a more natural and materialistic expression, reflecting the texture of the meteorite on the dial. For both movements, Holthinrichs ensures that all components are meticulously finished and embellished with laser-etched details and a strongly manually applied anglage containing 11 hand-cut inward angles.
