Sometimes It´s Just Time to Let Go – Notes on New Beginnings

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When I started Watch I Love Magazine, I was not comprehending the impact it will have. I had some hopes and expectations, some were fulfilled, some not. But being relevant and on the line with bigger publications was something I wouldn’t dare to think of… But being at that level requires resources I did not and still do not have.

Most of you don’t even know that Watch I Love Magazine is a lovechild in which I invested all my resources. As any love child, it does not produce financial resources but consumes. I have a 9-to-5 job that fed and allowed this passion to exist in my life. All the work for this magazine (including technical administration) was and still is done in my free time – evenings, nights, vacations. The last 5 years allowed no vacation, no time to breathe.

My intent was to bring to you all the latest novelties, original reviews, and general content worthy of your time. And for a while, it seemed to function… Until I realized, being in the emergency room more than once, that instead of taking care of my health, physical and physical, I took care of the magazine – providing content at any cost. And this started to take a major toll.

Contrary to what some might think, Watch I Love is not a cash cow. The advertising you see on the page is merely a way of supporting brands and friends I adore. Those are not paid campaigns. The only money this magazine “produces” is coming from the YouTube videos – Watch I Love Presents. As a content consumer, I have always disregarded the channels where countless minutes were wasted rambling, while a watch was barely to be seen, and sometimes with stock photos. Having that in mind, I have always tried to present the watch in a short, detailed video – just the watch and some background music. I have considered that those who want to know more details will read the review article. The revenue produced in this way covered maybe a fifth of the monthly costs (referring just to administration costs)

After some serious discussions with Diana and my doctor, in which my health was the main topic, I have realized (I always knew, but it was hard to accept the truth) that I have to scale down. I cannot compete in numbers and results with teams doing this full-time, and I cannot expect to compete.

Watch I Love Magazine will scale down to the level I can manage. I will ask for patience until I find the right rhythm. No more daily news, less content. But reviews and news digest in my personal way that you appreciate.

To all of you who have been a part of my journey, a thank you from all my heart. Feel free to reach out and ask for reviews for your favourite pieces, and share with me what you like and dislike. Constructive feedback is always welcome.
