Watch I love: APOLLO 13 SILVER SNOOPY AWARD

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I would like to share with you one of the watches that I love: The Omega Speedmaster Snoopy Award – a special limited edition for the 45th Anniversary of the Apollo 13 space mission.

Apollo 13 astronauts rewarded Omega with the Silver Snoopy Award for the excellent chronometer provided for the Space mission. This helped them to make the necessary correction at the atmosphere entrance on their return home. “What could you do in 14 seconds” – is stated on the dial as a reminder that every wrong second can kill you out there.

The white dial with black elements has Super-LumiNova indexes with black varnished top cavities, a small Snoopy painted with black and filled with a special LumiNova paint it is nicely spotted on the 9 o’clock sub-dial. The tachymeter scale has also LumiNova treatment.
The strap is a nylon-coated fabric with deployment clasp and looks amazing on this watch.

Snoopy is hand engraved in 925 Silver, then the medallion is stamped and chemically treated to prevent oxidation.

The caseback is created from a silver plate with several layers of enamel and sprinkled silver to create a sense of depth and to make the impression that Snoopy floats in space. At the end the medallion is set on the plate – 1970 pieces in total were created for this limited edition.

The watch can be purchased via the official boutique store at a recommended price of  5900 Euro.
More information is available on the Omega Website https://www.omegawatches.com/.
I would like to thank Omega for their pictures. (all info and images are from Omega)
