Break all the codes, reveal its mechanism, and pair its unique design with denim! The Mido Commander Gradient reveals (almost) all of its gears, underneath a transparent dial with a blue gradient effect. Combined with a pure denim strap, this reinvented icon is once again making its mark.
Produced continually since 1959, the Commander collection has always been innovative, and its great success knows no bounds: Mido regularly reinvents itself over time while maintaining its strong identity. It’s a way of underlining the contemporary character of the iconic Commander, designed to stand the test of time. Fitted with a denim strap, this time, Mido wanted the Commander Gradient to be surprising yet timeless, staying outside the realm of trends to create a lasting appeal. This new look also highlights the impressive mechanics driving the watch, seen on its face: an imposing calibre 80 and its high-tech balance-spring made from Nivachron™.
Creating its own codes
The transparent dial of the Commander Gradient welcomes you to the heart of mechanical watchmaking. Thanks to the fascinating blue gradient effect, the calibre 80 gears in the centre of the dial are left exposed. Highlighted in white, the indications on the display are perfectly distinguishable – including the date aperture at 3 o’clock and the blue-grey flange on the immaculate minute track. An integral part of the collection, the hour and minute hands, made from diamond-polished steel, are painted black in the centre and highlighted with white Super-LumiNova®. This powerful luminescent coating also ensures the indexes are legible at night. A domed and faceted sapphire crystal protects the open heart of the dial.
Timeless yet disruptive
The steel case on the Commander Gradient – featuring a fine polished bezel and satin-finished curves – is extended by a denim strap with a highly comfortable cotton weave. This timeless material is known for its great strength, and its ability to age so beautifully.
Visible through the face but also through the transparent case back, the calibre 80 beats at the heart of this model. Mido has fitted it with a Swiss Made balance-spring made from Nivachron™ which, similar to denim, is remarkably robust in the face of factors that could affect its chronometric precision, such as magnetic fields or shocks. The power reserve in this movement, developed with an oscillating weight finely decorated with Geneva Stripes, lasts up to 80 hours, for truly enviable reliability.
A timeless icon, the Commander Gradient dares to disrupt the codes – revealing what is normally hidden, playing with the multiple qualities of denim… a truly sought-after icon of watchmaking!
